starkville youth benefit concert
Our Starkville Youth Benefit Concert started from a pretty simple idea: young musicians in Starkville deserved a space to perform together across disciplines, that wasn't just a competition or recital. We noticed there weren't many opportunities like that in town, especially for students who may not have access to regular performance opportunities, as well as help support our community through the arts.
Our concert brought together talented student musicians, volunteers, families, and community members for an afternoon of music and service in support of children’s mental health in Starkville. Twenty-two young performers and nine student volunteers came together at Trinity Presbyterian Church to perform for an audience of over one hundred Starkville community members. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, the concert was a huge success!

Our original fundraising goal was $500 for Starkville Community Counseling, and together, we raised over $1,000. The concert featured performances by local student musicians across a wide range of styles and instruments, from classical piano and violin to contemporary voice and guitar. We are especially grateful to Trinity Presbyterian Church for generously providing the venue for the concert. We also want to thank all of our student volunteers, performers, audience members, and families who helped make the event possible. Also, a special thank you to Mrs. Whitney Cox for coming to speak to us about Starkville Community Counseling and what they do.
This project was organized by Angelina Tan, Cece Buehler, and Emilee Nichols with the goal of using music to give back to the community and support children’s health initiatives in Starkville. We are so proud of what our community has accomplished together, and so proud of the kids that used their talents to directly give back to the community!
